Sexual Harassment Policy

Owner: CEO
Last updated: July 2022

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

inHive is committed to realising gender equality and to ensure there is no gender discrimination inside the organisation or within the partnerships and communities we work in. The aims of this policy are to:

  • create equal dignity among all people
  • ensure a workplace where safety, security and equality of opportunity is ensured
  • create an anti-sexual harassment environment.

According to UN Secretariat’s message on discrimination, harassment, including sexual harassment, and abuse of authority, it defines “sexual harassment” as any unwelcome sexual advance, request for sexual favour, verbal or physical conduct or gesture of a sexual nature, or any other behaviour of a sexual nature that might reasonably be expected or be perceived to cause offence or humiliation to another, when such conduct interferes with work, is made a condition of employment or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment.

This policy applies to all trustees, employees, consultants and volunteers working on behalf of inHive.

To support the type of working environment we want, we will:

  • Ensure all other policies, strategic and project plans are gender sensitive
  • To monitor our disciplinary, grievance and safeguarding policies closely as well as ensure all staff have proper and effective supervision and support
  • To create a culture where staff, volunteers and trustees feel able to raise concerns and complaints through appropriate channels, without fear of gender discrimination or discrimination as a result of sexual identity
  • To ensure all staff, volunteers and trustees are aware of this policy and ensure its implementation at practice level, as part of the induction process for new starters
  • To take necessary steps to investigate any alleged incidents

If you would like to raise a concern, please contact the CEO (details in ‘key people) or the Chair of the Board of Trustees.
